*********NEWS RELEASE*********

Unfortunately in the early hours of Tuesday morning our beloved Tia passed away at Liverpool Hospital due to colon problems. The Trustees, staff and volunteers are devastated with her passing after years of being part of the Easterleigh family. May she 'Rest In Peace' As this is so very raw and hard to deal with and being so close to the arson deaths we are asking anyone who has any questions to put them in writing to: Mandy Leigh, 36 Caxton Avenue, Bispham, FY2 9AP. Great appreciation is given to please respecting our wishes.

EASTERLEIGH'S RECOVERY FROM FIRE

As some of you will know Easterleigh was hit by a callous arson attack in the early hours of the morning Wednesday the 23rd of March. Our fully stocked hay room was the target; as this was adjacent to our cat and rabbit isolation room and the henhouse we lost 5 cats, 4 kittens, 1 rabbit and 17 ex-battery hens. May they rest in peace.

Since the event we have had to remain shut to the public due to health and safety regulations. The roof of the affected building was badly damaged, with the remaining fragments somewhat unstable. Nevertheless the support from local people has been immensely heartening and we cannot thank you all enough for your kind donations of money and supplies. It has to be said that financial help is now of greater importance as 1. the rebuild is going to cost thousands, and 2. we have limited storage space as most of it was in the building that has been destroyed.

The good news is that two weeks on the remaining roof is being removed, thanks to a very kind local building firm, so the actual rebuild shouldn't be far away now. We are extremely grateful to Naylor & Walken for their immediate concern and assistance in this matter.

For anyone wanting to donate money especially for this cause a special 'Clean-up Appeal' account has been set up at the following bank: HSBC - sort code 404002 account number - 21405578.

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH!

You can also follow us, and of course get more updates on the current situation, on Facebook. Just follow this link.We will let you all know - as soon as we know - when we can open our doors once again.
