Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where is Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary located?
Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary is based in Blackpool. However, we are not operating in a public setting and are currently using private kennels for our dogs.
  • What do donations to Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary support?
Donations support the day-to-day running of the sanctuary, our development plans, and general animal requirements such as vet bills. They also help us provide temporary or permanent accommodation for animals in need and support our community engagement efforts.
  • Do you always conduct home checks?
Yes, for local re-homing, we always conduct home checks. It is crucial to match our furry friends to their perfect forever home.
  • Do you re-home outside the Fylde?
Yes. Because we won't be able to get out for a homecheck in person we ask for a vet reference and proof of ID and your current address. Pictures of your property are also useful.
  • How much must I pay for an animal?
Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary typically asks for an adoption donation of £80 for cats (2 for £120) and £200 for dogs. Adoption fees may vary depending on the individual animal and circumstances. Puppies and kittens may also have different fees.
  • Do you rehome animals to homes with children?
We do not rehome adult dogs to homes with children under the age of 7, as it would be irresponsible. However, we consider rehoming young puppies to these homes, as the dog would grow with the children. Each case is assessed individually to ensure the best match for both the animal and the family.
  • Will the animal I adopt from you be neutered?
All animals from Easterleigh are neutered/spayed or are booked in upon leaving us. Puppies and kittens too young to be spayed must be done by the new owner as part of the adoption contract.
  • What if I want to breed my pet?
As a Sanctuary whose primary objective is to rescue unwanted animals we cannot and do not condone actively breeding. Obviously if no-one ever bred any dogs or cats again there would be no companion animals at all, however since we are so very, VERY far from that scenario we feel it is perfectly reasonable to insist that any pets we re-home are neutered.
  • Do you re-home horses?
Yes! we occasionally have horses available for rehoming, however, the majority of horses are exclusively here for permanent retirement, be that due to age or health issues.
